Applications can be made by using the online application link and instructions below. If you are applying for a funded project, your application should be received by the Research Office on or before the closing date indicated in the funding advertisement.
In order to be considered, your application must be completed in full, including all information on existing qualifications and transcripts, funding details or requirements, evidence of English language proficiency and names and addresses of referees. It is advised that applicants discuss the research proposal with a suitable member of academic staff prior to returning the application.
Once the Research Office receives your application it will be forwarded to the relevant faculty for consideration. Applicants should note that all applications are judged on the following criteria:
First Time Users - If this is the first time you have used this service please click on 'FIRST TIME USER ACCOUNT CREATION' at the bottom of the online application page to create your own Login ID and PIN. Please keep a record of the Login ID and PIN you create for future use. Also note that the Login ID is case sensitive.
At Application Menu Create a new application select:
New Application Type: Research (All Nationalities)
Returning Users - If you are a returning user, wishing to check on the progress of an application or to make a new application, please enter your existing Login ID and PIN and then select Login. If you have forgotten your Login ID and/or PIN, please contact the Admissions Office.
Note that only applications for one person can be processed against an individual Login ID and PIN, and that each user must set up their own login details in order to apply. Please do not allow anyone else to use your ID to submit an application.

Applicants for any source of funding and/or admission to a research programme should note that all decisions relating to your application will be made by a central University committee and conveyed formally to you in writing and by post by the Research Office. The University will not be held responsible for any decision on your application provided to you by any staff member other than those in the Research Office with formal responsibility for the process.
