Introduction
As part of its strategy for research the University of Ulster wishes to recognize the outstanding scholarly accomplishments of staff members and to assist in the development of staff as excellent researchers. One indicator of recognition is the annual award of Senior Distinguished, or Distinguished, Research Fellowships.
Senior Distinguished Research Fellowship Awards are for staff members who have compiled a substantial and continuing record of outstanding research and scholarly activity and have profoundly contributed to their field in a leadership capacity. Nominees in this category must have achieved pre-eminence in their field nationally and internationally and must provide evidence that their research has influenced the field.
Distinguished Research Fellowship Awards are for staff members who, by virtue of the exceptional quality of their early contributions, have demonstrated great potential as scholars and have achieved some measure of international standing.
