We are delighted to announce a very significant increase in our RAE rating for 2008.
Health and Rehabilitation Sciences research at Ulster has shown a marked improvement on all of the main indicators in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise indicating work of international quality in the majority of work submitted. The majority of our work has been assessed to be “International quality in terms of originality, significance and rigour”.
14 staff were submitted for assessment, a significant increase on the 8 entered in RAE 2001. Professions represented included Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Podiatry and Clinical Science. This makes Ulster’s Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Research Institute the largest research grouping of its kind in Ireland. Significant improvements were also reported in the amount of research income, the number of successful postgraduate research students and our research infrastructure, with significant investment in the new Centre for Rehabilitation Research.
We look forward to our research continuing to make a difference to patient care in cancer, multiple sclerosis, musculoskeletal conditions, respiratory disease and stroke.
